Find out more about the Tirano - Sondrio - Lecco - Milano line

The RegioExpress Tirano - Sondrio - Lecco - Milano line takes you from the skyscrapers of Milano to the mountains of Valtellina in 2 and a half hours and for only about 10€ per person.

Tirano is also the terminus of the Tirano - Sondrio, the line that serves the smaller towns where the regioexpress does not stop.

In Sondrio it is possible to change with the Lecco - Colico - Sondrio, the regional line that makes all the stops between the two provincial capitals.

Colico is instead one of the terminus of the Colico - Chiavenna.

Once in Lecco, you can decide whether to use the regional Lecco -Bergamo, Como - Molteno - Lecco, or the suburban S7 and S8.

Monza is another important interchange station, where in fact another regioexpress, a regional and 4 suburban lines meet.

The end of the race is Milano Centrale. Here trains depart for any destination, both regional and regioexpress lines. From Milan Central you can also reach the rest of Italy by train, with Intercity, Frecciarossa and Italo trains, and Europe, with Eurocity.

To move around the city of Milano, on the other hand, at the Milano Centrale station there are two ATM subway lines, the green M2 and the yellow M3, as well as numerous urban and extra-urban surface vehicles and parking lots for taxis, as well as various car rental companies. In the area near the Milano Centrale station you can find numerous restaurants, clubs and hotels.

The RegioExpress Tirano - Sondrio - Lecco - Milano line touches some of the most interesting places in the north-east of Lombardia.

Tirano is a town a few kilometers from the Swiss border, famous above all as the starting point of the Bernina Express, managed by the Rhaetian Railway. We are also close to the ski slopes of the Aprica ski areas and in an area where the proposals for sporting activities are numerous. There is no shortage of ideas for a more cultural visit, for example to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Tirano or the Rock Engravings Park.

In Colico the Adda river enters Lake Como, here it is possible to do numerous sporting activities on the lake, such as windsurfing and kitesurfing, or diving in the bay of Olgiasca. If you prefer a quieter activity, you can organize a visit to the Abbey of Piona or, for nature lovers, to the Pian di Spagna Reserve.

Excursions into nature are also possible in Bellano, in particular to visit the Orrido di Bellano or along the Sentiero del Viandante.

Varenna was a fishing village, with a long history from the Middle Ages to today, which has become one of the most renowned villages on Lake Como. Villas, gardens and churches, but also paths, such as the Ring of the Vezio Castle or the Greenway of the Patriarchs, or restaurants and clubs: in Varenna there is an activity for everyone.

In the city of Lecco, in addition to the lakefront of the southern branch of Lake Como, you can visit the historic center, rich in architecture from various eras, from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. Do not forget the fact that Lecco is the theater of Alessandro Manzoni's Promessi sposi and here it is still possible to find some traces of the city told by the writer in his famous novel.

Monza is the city of Formula 1: every year, one of the most anticipated stages of the championship takes place in the Monza circuit. The racetrack can be visited and many activities are organized for those who love engines and the adrenaline of racing. For those who prefer to relax in nature, there is the Park of the Reggia di Monza, the largest park enclosed by walls in Europe. Inside the park you can simply sunbathe, ride a bike, walk or visit the farms. We cannot talk about Monza without mentioning the Villa Reale, a neoclassical style building that can be visited, where exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events are held.
