Select the WhatsApp option and scan the QR code on the self-service machine or Digital Gate screen. A pre-filled message will be generated on the Trenord Tickets Chat: send it to start the procedure.

Confirm your number on the ticket machine screen.

You will receive the "Go to the ticket" link in the chat to view it. Selecting “See ticket details” will show a screen with all the trip information, which can be accessed even without an internet connection.

Rail, Malpensa Express, Cross-border: no validation required. The ticket is automatically activated on the selected day and time of departure.

In case of using buses in the STIBM area

For each journey, the card must be tapped on a validator or turnstile to activate the ticket.

If you use vehicles that are not yet equipped to check the new reloadable tickets, you must manually validate the purchase receipt, indicating the departure location, date, and time of travel.

Before boarding the train, it is necessary to tap the ticket on a validator or turnstile to start the time validity.

How can I validate a paper ticket if there are no suitable validators at the station I am departing from?

Anyone with a paper ticket who is departing from a station in Lombardy where there are no suitable validation machines can validate their ticket by hand before the start of the trip, indicating the date, time and station of departure. Manual validation is also recognised for travel on Lombardia routes and supra-regional routes on Trenitalia and Tper services.

With a digital ticket, can I take an earlier train than the one I selected at the time of purchase?

Yes, for fixed-date train tickets, you can bring forward your departure time on your chosen day of travel by clicking on the "Activate early" button.

Can I travel on Trenord services with a ‘Ricaricami’ top-up ticket purchased through ATM channels?

Yes, ‘Ricaricami’ top-up tickets sold by ATM can also be used to travel on Trenord services as part of an integrated system. You can validate your ATM ticket with the Trenord ticket validation machines installed at the stations, use it to pass through the access gates – if any – and show it to the ticket inspection staff.

Are magnetic tickets still usable?

According to the regional project "Electronic Ticketing," starting from January 1, 2024, access to all Trenord services - including in the STIBM area - is only allowed with rechargeable electronic tickets and digital tickets.

Since some integrated operators with Trenord services have yet to transition to the new formats, temporary access to Trenord services is allowed with STIBM tickets on magnetic media, only if the tickets have been validated at devices of other operators authorized to validate such format. Manual validation is not allowed.

This measure has been adopted pending the transition to electronic and digital ticketing by other operators, as provided by the regional project "Electronic Ticketing".

Can I travel on Trenitalia services with tickets (regional, STIBM) purchased from Trenord web channels?

Trenord travel tickets sold through web channels are valid on Trenitalia's regional train services operated in Lombardy.

How many trips can I make, within the time validity of the single ticket?

You can only make one trip, for the route (origin/destination) and in the direction indicated on the ticket.

Within what limit can I use my one-way ticket to Milano?

Any Trenord ticket with Milano as its destination (including tickets with the dedicated Malpensa Express rate) can be used throughout the entire Milano urban railway network and on all Passante Ferroviario lines.

Can I use my single ticket issued by Trenitalia sales channels on Trenord trains?

On Trenord services, single paper tickets issued via Trenitalia sales channels (Lombardia and interregional railway fares) are valid for journeys on routes that cross multiple regions. Tickets with an interregional fare are valid for 4 hours from validation.

Does a single ticket purchased online expire?

Trenord single digital tickets can be used on the date indicated and are valid for 6 hours from the time chosen during purchase.
If you have purchased a ticket online on Trenord's website or App, on the selected day of travel you can obtain an earlier departure by clicking on the "Activate early" button, which you can find on the digital ticket screen. The ticket will be immediately usable and will be valid for 6 hours from that moment.
