Farewell to old habits: the ticket is not thrown away at the end of the trip.
Did you get off the train? Don't throw away your ticket! Trenord tickets that you buy at ticket offices, authorised points of sale and self-service outlets have a new format you can reload: "Chip On Paper - COP."
Once you have finished your trip, you can keep the paper ticket and reuse it to purchase a new ride at the ticket office, at authorised sales outlets and at self-service outlets.
How to purchase a ticket on COP medium?
Ticket offices and authorised outlets sell only COP tickets, while self-service outlets are gradually adopting the new medium.
You can purchase on COP all types of tickets on sale at Trenord's network: train tickets, Malpensa Express, Transfrontier, integrated STIBM and Io Viaggio Ovunque in Lombardia and Gite in treno.
At the time of purchase, you must indicate the day you intend to use the ticket and the exact itinerary. On COP tickets you can reload a ticket and a surcharge (bicycle transportation, First Class, etc.).
In the case of schedule changes, it is possible to change the date of use at ticket offices, at self-service or through the Trenord website and App - up to a maximum of 3 times per ticket - and always by 23.59 on the day before the scheduled date of travel.
How to validate a ticket on COP?
COP tickets, which are only usable on the day and for the itinerary indicated at purchase, must be validated before departure.
At stations we are installing new Chip On Paper ticket validators, which you will easily recognise: they are green and equipped with a large LCD screen. To "activate" your ticket, simply bring it closer to the validator.
You can also validate the Chip On Paper ticket on previous generation validators by tapping it.
How to verify the travel ticket loaded to COP?
You can check the ticket loaded on your COP at any time by asking Trenord staff at the ticket office.
You can also do this on your own, using self-service - you just need to tap the COP - or with the new generation validators. In the latter case, simply press the "I" key and place the ticket on the device in the area below the screen.

To check the presence and type of tickets loaded on the COP, simply use a new validator, choose the "I" function and then place the COP in the area below the screen.

Yes. To change the date, the ticket uploaded to CoP must be transformed into a digital ticket to be used via the mobile site or Trenord App. To digitize your ticket, you need to register on trenord.it and go to the CoP digitization service found in the ticket area of the personal area. By proceeding with the transformation, the ticket purchased on CoP will be transferred to the site/App and become for all intents and purposes a digital ticket whose date of use can be changed up to a maximum of 3 times, however always by 11:59 p.m. on the day before the travel date you wish to change.
