CARTA PLUS LOMBARDIA

The Carta Plus Lombardia is a monthly or annual personal card from Trenitalia, which extends the validity of the integrated rail pass to higher class services, on the route indicated at the time of purchase.

The rules of use for customers who purchase a Carta Plus Lombardia will change from 1 September 2025. The card offers access to 2^nd class on Trenitalia long-distance trains: Frecciabianca (including Italy/Switzerland trains, for domestic journeys), Intercity, Intercity Notte and Eurocity trains. Frecciarossa and Frecciargento services are excluded.

From 1 September 2025, anyone wishing to extend the validity of their STIBM, IVOL or IVOP 2^nd class rail pass to access 1^st class services and the Malpensa Express to and from Milano Cadorna can purchase the "First Class Extra" at a discounted rate [link]. This extra will replace the Carta Plus Lombardia.

Annual Carta Plus cards purchased before the adjustment, with residual validity until 1 September 2025, will allow for access to 1st class on Trenord regional trains until their natural expiry.

Carta Plus Details

• The Carta Plus Lombardia can be purchased at Trenord and Trenitalia ticket offices exclusively by residents of the Lombardy region, for journeys within the Lombardy regional fare system, including any fare extensions (Chiasso, Tortona, etc.).

• The Carta Plus Lombardia is non-refundable due to the traveller's refusal to use it, and cannot be issued on board the train.  
• The Carta Plus Lombardia is a personal card and must be shown, along with your regional rail pass, whenever requested by on-board staff.
• The MONTHLY Carta Plus Lombardia can be purchased and used exclusively in combination with the monthly IO VIAGGIO OVUNQUE IN LOMBARDIA or TRENOCITTÀ rail passes (always and only for the indicated route).
• The ANNUAL Carta Plus Lombardia can be purchased and used exclusively in combination with the quarterly/annual IO VIAGGIO OVUNQUE IN LOMBARDIA or IO VIAGGIO OVUNQUE IN LOMBARDIA AGEVOLATA rail passes (always and only for the indicated route).

Carta Plus Lombardia fares and costs

The MONTHLY Carta Plus Lombardia is on sale at the ticket offices at the price of:

• 30€/month for journeys under 50 km
• 45€/month for journeys longer than 50 km and shorter than 115 km
• 60€/month for journeys longer than 115 km

The ANNUAL Carta Plus Lombardia is on sale at the ticket offices at the price of:

• 300€/year for journeys under 50 km
• 450€/year for journeys between 50 km and 115 km
• 600€/year for journeys longer than 115 km
