A trip on the historic train for the Giovanni Testori centenary

Saturday 13 May, 4 special journeys on the Milano Cadorna-Novate Milanese route, enlivened by on-board theatre to celebrate the writer-commuter

For the Centenary of the birth of Giovanni Testori, Trenord, in collaboration with the Casa Testori Cultural Association, is organising a very special event to promote and celebrate the figure and literary work of Giovanni Testori, writer-commuter.

On Saturday 13 May, 4 trips will be made on the Novate Milanese-Milano Cadorna route of the historic train consisting of the 3 recently restored AZ cars pulled by E. 600.3 and E. 610-04 locomotives.

During the journey, aboard one of the historic trains used daily by Giovanni Testori, eight young actors will present the landscapes and characters of “Il Fabbricone”, a building at the centre of one of his well-known novels and which recalls the buildings that now line the train tracks. The stories of Redenta, of Mrs Schieppati and her son Sandrino, of Rina Oliva and of Carlo Villa, some of the best-loved characters from Testori’s works, will take the travellers on a train trip from Novate to Cadorna with the simple, direct voice of the actors-fellow passengers.

Participation in the event will be free of charge and by reservation only through eventbrite.com while places are available (120 for each journey of the historic train).

Travellers interested in this extraordinary experience will be able to choose which ride to take and register by providing their email. They will then receive confirmation of their registration by being sent a travel coupon that they must print out and keep with them on the day of the event, showing it to the Trenord inspection staff.

The coupon will be valid for the trip chosen on a historic train and also for a return trip on an ordinary Trenord train on the Milano Cadorna-Novate Milanese route, also on 13 May 2023.

The historic train will depart from platform 7 in Novate Milanese station and from platform 10 in Milano Cadorna station. Those signed up for the event are invited to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the train departure time.
