From January 23 to February 24

Milan – Lecco – Sondrio – Tirano;
Milan Metropolitan Area;
Airport Connection

In view of the Milan – Cortina Winter Olympics, Trenord has strengthened the connection between Milan and Valtellina, the service in the Milan metropolitan area, and the connection to Malpensa Airport from January 23 to February 24.

ATTENTION: Replacement buses departing from Sondrio station for Lecco, following a municipal ordinance regarding internal traffic in the municipality of Varenna, will not stop at Varenna Esino. More information is available in Notice 31.

Furthermore, train R 10156 (Colico 07:10 – Chiavenna 07:42) from Monday to Saturday, until February 21, will depart from Colico after the arrival of the replacement bus 3310A (Lecco 05:44 – Colico 06:59).

From 23 January 2026

RE51 Milano Centrale – Malpensa Airport – Gallarate

From 23 January, once works on the new section of line between Malpensa Airport T2 and Gallarate stations are completed, the Malpensa Express trains on the “RE51” line departing from Milano Centrale will be extended to Gallarate, and vice versa, while maintaining stops at both Terminals 1 and 2 of Milan Malpensa Airport.

This activation strengthens connections to and from Malpensa: the airport and Gallarate station – a key hub for trains to and from Varese, Porto Ceresio, Luino and Domodossola – will be linked by a train every 30 minutes in each direction. The travel time between Gallarate and Terminal 2 will be 8 minutes; to Terminal 1, 15 minutes.

From Gallarate, trains to Malpensa and Milano will depart at .24 and .54 past the hour, between 05:24 and 23:24.

From Milano Centrale, trains to Malpensa and Gallarate will keep the same departure schedule at .55 and .25 past the hour.

The start of service from Milano Centrale will be brought forward thanks to the introduction of the new “RE” train 2914/10305, which will run daily, departing from Milano Centrale at 04:55 and arriving at Malpensa Airport T1 at 05:48, at Malpensa Airport T2 at 05:56, and at Gallarate at 06:06. The last train from Milano Centrale will depart at 23:25.
